Paris is one of the most beloved cities in Europe, and has been a Mecca for artists and tourists for centuries. Its monuments and museums are world-famous, but, as is the case with any major tourist venue, the city has a ‘real-life’ side to it where the permanent residents go about their daily business. It is this aspect that I have tried to demonstrate in these photographs, rather than to depict the familiar sights that can be found in any travel guide. Of course, the Eiffel Tower is impossible to avoid!
Many of these photographs were made during a 5-day workshop offered by Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures. They are arranged into 10 themes: Music & Dance, Café Society, Politics, Streetscapes, Fashion, Lovers, the River Seine, the Eiffel Tower, Relaxing with a Book, and After Dark.
