Monhegan is a small, rocky island ten miles from the nearest mainland and scarcely a square mile in area. Since the 1800s, the island’s two primary economies have been fishing and tourism. Lobster traps line the unpaved roads that lead to the village and to the cliffs that attract so many to this special place. The photographs in this show were among many taken on a week-long visit in August of this year, and have been selected to convey the charm of this special place.
