Pais is one of the most beloved cities in Europe, and has been a Mecca for artists, writers, and tourists for centuries. Its monuments and museums are world-famous, but, as is the case with any major tourist venue, the city has a 'real-life' side to it as the permanent residents go about their daily business. It is this aspect that I have tried to demonstrate in these photographs, rather than to depict the familiar sights that can be found in any travel guide. I hope that you find them interesting.
